Reminiscing over our 2022 highlights, and looking forward to what 2023 will hold

DL Consulting, the company behind Veridian, marked 20 years in the digital collections business. As for the next 20 years, we intend to move forward and keep working the way we are, continuing to improve and add to the list of well-respected libraries and institutions we work with. It’s clearly been a winning formula so far!

Over the year we’ve helped launch several new collections for universities such as Beloit College, Tufts University and Winona State University, as well as Papers Past’s Ngā Tānga Reo Māori collection. Plus, we redesigned and refreshed the visual design framework for multiple Ulukau collections.

Many of our existing collections have continued to grow, with milestones reached including:

California Digital Newspaper Collection: 10 million newspaper pages
East View’s Global Press Archive: 10 million newspaper pages
Library of Virginia’s Virginia Chronicle: 3 million newspaper pages
National Library of Israel’s newspaper collection: 6 million newspaper pages
Plains to Peaks (bringing together Colorado and Wyoming’s historic newspapers): 7 million newspaper pages
Swiss National Library: 11 million newspaper pages

Improvements to Veridian are always in the works for our team, with one scheduled for 2023 being to upgrade most of our collections to use the new Veridian document viewer.

The first part of 2023 will see a number of small to medium-sized collections launch on the Veridian platform - watch this space!

Updates and a redesign for Elephind are on the cards, our free platform that aims to make it possible to search all of the world’s online historic newspapers from one place.
