December 2019 - what's in this newsletter?
The year that was: Our highlights of 2019
Coming up: Our plans for 2020
From the Veridian team: Happy holidays
Hello friend of Veridian,

It's nearly holiday time! Read our 2019 wrap up newsletter and find out what's ahead.

2019 has been a busy and successful year for our team. We launched the new veridiansoftware.com, celebrated 10 years of the Veridian name and although as Kiwis we’re not known for our flying, we hopped on a plane for the 2019 Veridian User Group Meeting in Washington DC.

We've also been privileged to work on a notable list of digital collection projects over the year.

A few of our 2019 project highlights
  • Growing our list of NDNP projects with the migration of  the Washington State Library’s Washington Digital Newspapers from ChronAm to Veridian. Read the case study
  • The launch of Case Western Reserve University’s digital Student Newspaper Archive. We oversaw the scanning of the original newspapers from microfilm, OCR creation and built a customized presentation system.
  • We rebuilt the interface for very first Veridian audio collection. Kaniʻāina, "Voices of the Land" provides bilingual, interactive access to Native Hawaiian audio and transcripts.
  • Working with East View to build the first open access Global Press Archive collection: The Late Qing and Republican-Era Chinese Newspapers.
  • Migrating Lehigh University's The Brown and White student newspaper collection from CONTENTdm to Veridian. Read the case study
  • We also added IIIF support to Veridian and implemented both IIIF image and presentation API support to the Swiss National Library’s Digital Newspaper Archive. Read the case study.
Our plans for 2020

  • Developing new features to further evolve and polish Veridian, ensuring it remains the very best platform for large digital newspaper collections.
  • Growing our team of experts. It's all hands on deck with an exciting stack of significant projects in the pipeline!
  • Continuing our work and building partnerships in the non-English digital newspaper collection space.
  • Listening to our customers. Finding out exactly what you need so we can do our best to find elegant solutions.

Happy holidays!
